Clownfish "smelling" the zoas?

My male black occ. keeps burying the front of his face into my red galaxy zoas. And its just these ones, he hasnt done it to any of the other zoas in my tank. Its not after feeding time so I know hes not trying to get food from them so why does he do it? I'm worried that he may try to take a bite out of them or something.

They might be in a area he has staked as his. He might be trying to move them. They will even move the sand from their area.

Plus one on moveing them I know my clowns use to choose a corner and start moveing sand lol

I had a huge patch of palys that hosted my clowns. He might just be thinking its hit home.

Maybe. He hosted a red mushroom before when I first got him so...maybe he likes the color red? But the polyps are glued down, they arent gonna get pushed anywhere.

I agree with staking out a new spot. My clown has staked out my AO in the past and he has ultimately killed those off by living in them. At first it was cute but it killed them off. I suggest you move your colony elsewhere.

Ok, thanks for the input guys. I think I'm just going to hope that he stops and if not move the zoas.
