I have a pair of clowns that have appeared to have nested on my canister intake. It looks like there are eggs that I would describe as small maggots in appearance (no disrespect). Clearly I know nothing about breeding and dont have time to learn in a short amount of time.

Is it reasonable for me to attempt to save these fish or would that require a bunch of equipment and knowledge?

THanks.

Is there othere fish in the tank?
Yes. Everywhere. Hungry too.

The clowns have strategically laid the nest between the intake and the glass, so they are out of reach. For now.....

First you need a rotifer culture to feed the clowns, which will probably take 2 weeks or so if you order them now. By then the eggs will have already hatched. You'll need to set up a tank for the clownfish fry too. I suggest watching some YouTube videos on breeding clownfish. Good luck!

I would just leave the eggs as fish food unless you’re already experience with breeding clowns.
I have zero experience breeding clowns. Kind of a shame to leave them to their fate, I guess....

If this is the first lay, keep an eye on them see if they are fertile. They should be orange when laid. In about 6-9 days you’ll see a silver spot (eye). If temp and flow stay the same they will hatch every time on the same day from lay. Need to know what that is, so watch this lay see what day they hatch from lay. Most my pairs hatch 9-11 day with day of lay as day 1.

the spot they laid in, once this batch hatches put a tile or clay pot see if you can get them to lay on that. That’ll be about the only way to save them in a main display. My best pair are in my main display, I pull the pot the night of hatch. 3A18686C-E091-4455-A6E4-E365FA9C6DF1.jpeg

They are orange. We'll keep watch, but they dont have much chance of making it. Not with us running the show.

Thanks.
