Soooo this is my second saltwater tank. Only 6-7 months after joining this hobby, I am putting together a second and if it doesnt demonstrate how much of a hold this hobby has on me already, I dont know what does haha.
Well if you havent seen my 1st salwater tank you can find it here: Check out my 55 Gallon
The deets:
I literally got a 20 gallon tall tank from PetCo and put together a bunch of random stuff I had sitting in storage. My hope is to make a low end anemone and maroon clown home. Amongst all the stuff I used from storage we have a Fluval 207 canister filter that I filled up with live rock from my 1st tank and ceramic bioballs, a HOB filter that will work as my mechanical with just filter floss (not needed but I like the clear polished water ahah), Sycce powerhead, heater with controller and ATO.
What I added from the store:
NICREW 100 W 2nd Gen Reef Light
Ocean direct sand
Marco Purple Coralline Rocks (Dry)
Goals:
1. To have a rock formation that was more pleasing than my 1st tank. I had no idea you could come up with your rock designs back then so I decided to let the process take longer by not using live rock this time so I could design with glue and rock lol
2. Tank that has an anemone as its main center piece. My 1st run is already full of coral and although I did have an anemone in it for a while, the corals have taken hold of most of the main areas. If I add coral to this tank, I am hoping they will complement the look of the anemone.
3. Maroon clowns are so pretty to me and I'd love to have a pair. That being said, my 55 gallon main display has enough inhabitants as is. Not to mention, there would like be a clash of the titans in my tank if I added maroons with their... gentle... nature and all.
Ended up coming up with this design:
(it is embarrassing how long I played with the rock before I started to glue)
In the tank:
Come along if you are interested on how this project turned out! I am a 2nd year veterinary student and father of two so time is not on my side haha but I do what I can when I find the time!
My most updated pic of the tank as it comes along will live here:
(TO BE ADDED ONCE TANK HAS WATER)
