Stop using FedEx!

Hopefully no one else has had as worst of luck as I have had from FedEx. I’m not sure why these online coral shops continue using them. In the dozens of orders I’ve had using FedEx, the shipment has been late or delayed every single time… Not once has the initial tracking been accurate..of course with livestock on board. UPS has been so much more reliable. Apparently FedEx uses third party vendors to deliver their packages where UPS uses their own dedicated drivers. Anyways… just venting here.. can these companies please stop using FedEx

Assuming what I was told in the past is correct, I may know the reason why FedEx is so variable: each route/territory is a franchise. A person can essentially buy the delivery business for a given area. Some manage them better than others.

UPS is more-standardized. I used to work for a company that switched from using FedEx to UPS. Damages occurred with either carrier, but I noticed less-consistency with UPS. For instance, I had a customer who ordered some UV lamps. His gate code information was posted right on the gate, but the FedEx driver tossed the UV lamps over his fence instead. They did not survive. The two replacement orders we sent also did not survive getting tossed over the wall. We had plenty of customers with good FedEx experiences too though. With UPS we still had damage claims, but it was much harder to find patterns like that.

Funny you should mention them. I had a delivery of live rock just today. Tracking said between 9:30 and 1:30. Guy showed up a little after 1pm. This is the 2nd time he came that late with live stuff. I come to learn that FedEx prioritizes commercial deliveries over residential! That's why we wait in anguish! I spoke with my UPS guy last time he delivered (9:45am btw) and asked him to look out for me since my orders for the end of the week match his route in my neighborhood. My advice, make friends with both, maybe a little grease and see how you do. Good luck!

The value of shipping and delivery to rural areas is much less than to larger population hubs. You picked the wrong zipcode to reef, especially by mail in.

It's crazy how different people's experiences are. I've had FedEx go the extra mile for me more than once during winter storms, allowing me to pick up my package at the distribution center. Ups on the other hand won't change anything beyond marking a package delayed when storms hit.

My local FedEx person didn’t feel like making a delivery last month so he lied and said failed delivery attempt 2 days in a row. I was home both days and neither the cameras or the motion detectors showed a visit from FedEx. Amazon yes, USPS yes, neighbor’s cat yes…FedEx no. The package was no signature required. I had to request it be held at Walgreens to get it on day 3. No way to treat a package labeled “Live Animals” :( I honestly can’t say any others are consistently better here but that one really irked me.
