CO2 Scrubber Configurations

How would they make an airtight seal in the cap so It does not leak air from the cap introducing new unskimmed air.

is it better to get the air for the c02 scrubber from the skimmer cup or from outside air? I will be using the scrubber in both cases.

From what I've read, if you're getting the air from outside, you would not need the scrubber. I would try that first and see if it gets you the results before adding the scrubber.

I already have the scrubber and a lot of media as I am currently using it from the lid as my PH before would never hit 8 but I am going to see if running the line outside instead of the skimmer lid is better

Quick question (sorry to butt in): Is a scrubber necessary if you can get air from outside?

My outside air line didntd do much. I'm setting up scrubber now and this hybrid seems to make the most sense to me. Why not supply the scrubber with air supplied from outside since it has less C02 than the air in the house?
