Coldwater comeback tank

After a couple years away I finally have another Coldwater tank up and running :)

Tank is 60x24x24 made of 1" thick acrylic.

Stand is from Alufab

1/2 HP Chiller running the tank at 55°F

Sicce SDC 9.0 return pump

Sump from SR Aquatics

Center overflow allows the tank to viewable all around. Used a faux rock cover cut to fit around the overflow and ran loc line up the interior of the overflow.

LED spot lights with adjustable focal lens so that I could highlight the sides of the central rock. It's gonna get some more rock down the road as I find the right stuff in the wild.

Currently cycling with some algae, shrimp, and crabs I've collected. Lots more to come

I'll be collecting and catching my own livestock around New England. I had a system when I lived in Oregon that I collected for and used to supply and sell Coldwater livestock back then. Moved to the east coast a couple years ago and I'm giving it a shot out here now :)

So that’s what a beautiful cold water tank looks like! There’s a chap on the other side of the pond, @Nano_Man ,who collects his inhabitants in the rock pools. His tank is beautiful as well.

Thanks :) I had planned to run power down the posts there just for a tank and put the outlets on their own breaker since last time I did a Coldwater tank the chiller constantly overloaded the breaker with all the pumps and everything else I had going. This is a much more thought out simplified system.

Collecting my own livestock is a lot of fun :) I'll probably branch out again and import more Coldwater anemones from Europe and just make a "North Atlantic" Coldwater tank instead of just Gulf of Maine. Decided to do a track light setup since it was really only for viewing and macro algae growth since all the anemones are non-photosynthetic. Also, if I decided to add more light, I could pop more units in, and Kessil makes a track light setup now too.

That's rad! If he's on FB I probably have bumped into him online in the Coldwater Marine Aquarium Owners group. The shrimp I have in my tank are actually invasive here in the US and originally from the other side of the pond The are called Rockpool Shrimp (Palaemon elegans) and they've expanded their range now from Europe all the way down the east coast from Maine to the Keys. Biota Group is actually captive breeding them now for people in the tropical trade since they have such a wide temperature range.
