Hey everyone! My name is Carlson Moncrief. I've been in the hobby for a while but I've never had the success I've wanted. I decided recently to stop wasting money on pity things and restart my tank with plans of growing a lot of acros one day and maybe using that as a small side income. I'm also a student at Dayton State in Albany GA, but I will soon be transferring in the fall to GSU, and the following year to GaTech. I'm an aero engineer major, as math is my favorite subject (I love math [emoji28]) I also live and have a passion for reefing.if you follow this thread you will likely see a lot of progression along with tank moving from apartment to apartment and in several years to a house! I am coming to try to post often to keep you interested! Thanks if you follow! My tank started cycling a few days ago, and I'm doing my first water change tomorrow when my replacement sediment and carbon block and membrane get here from Amazon. I know it's not necessary to due a water change this early, but Im not satisfied with my Ph right now and I want to keep things as stable as possible. Here are a couple pics of the tank before and after adding water and my little saltwater mixing station which youll see in use tomorrow if you follow!

I still have a lot of things to setup before I add any fish or coral and my cycle ends. I'm hoping I'll be ready for Reefapalooza because I already bought my ticket!

Some of the things I have to buy soon are my new lights, I chose these because I was a a video on you tube of someone who has had long term success with these and good sps growth.

I also want to get a new ATO, new test kits, a better refractometer, and maybe a wavemaker to randomize flow more in my tank before I add coral. I have a maroon clown that Ive had for three years along with a wrasse awaiting patiently for their new home to return.

Thanks! That's what I was going for. Hopefully this tank is going to have a small bioload with no more than 3 or 4 fish so I didn't want too much rock.

Do you have any ideas on which fish you're interested in or still in the works?

In the last picture of my last tank, you can see the shape it was in after my long spring break, which is part of the reason I restarted it

Its an RoBuddie, it's not and rodi unit until you add on a canister that snaps on the front but it's really easy and compact. I like it.
