Hello All!

I started this tank on 9/4/2013

About me: I am a physical therapy graduate student, I will have my DPT in May 2015

About the tank:

Tank Equipment:

  • CAD Lights 8 g Mini
  • I ran the stock LED light for one year and it did fine with my LPS corals, I upgraded to a Nano Box Mini Tide in January 2015 (Love this light)
  • Eheim Jager 50 Watt
  • Floating thermometer
  • CUC via reef cleaners (great service) of all snails mostly Florida ceriths and dwarf ceriths
Stock List:

1 clown fish
1 hammer coral (green tips)
1 duncan
1 neon green candy cane

Other Equipment I Use (FYI):
  • API Master Liquid Test Kit - Saltwater
  • Battery back up Air pump (for emergency use)
  • Reef Crystals
  • Refractrometer
  • Revive Coral Cleaner
  • Chemi-Pure Elite
  • Poly Filter
  • Maxi-Jet 900 (for mixing SW)
  • Ammonium Chloride Solution (for cycling)
  • Hydor 50W (for mixing SW)
  • Mag-Float 30 (do not use)
  • Dr. Tim's One and Only (used to cycle too ~ 1 month)
  • Arag-Alive Special Grade Sand 10 lbs
  • Gravel Vac
  • 7 Pounds Bulk Reef Supply Reef Saver Rock
  • Distilled water
  • 5 gallon bucket
I do a 2 gallon water change every week. I run Chemi Pure Elite and poly filter in the first chamber. I feed my fish New Life Spectrum and Rod's Frozen Food every day or every other day. I feed my corals Rod's once a week or every other week. I manually top off my tank every other day.

Let me know what you think! You can see the coral growth overt the last year in the following pictures!

Happy Reefing!

Another pic with Nano Box and one showing the aluminum DIY stand I made for the light to mount on

Happy Reefing!

Judging by the pictures and seeing that my hammer coral is touching the glass, Do you think I should frag my hammer coral?

Those corals look like they are loving that tank. I would not frag yet, it looks too cool.

I would not frag it either. May be move it to the back left corner and move the candycane to the front. Just a thpught.

Keep up the great work.

Tom
