I have a 180-g tank, 5 feet 3 inches long, 2 and half feet deep and 2 feet high. I currently run 3 Kessil A360x units. I originally aimed for a mixed reef, however, I realized that I might not have enough PARs for SPS. After reading/watching lots of discussion, I realized I need to add some more units.
Now I am left with 2 options (most probably there are much more other options), one of them being 1 or 2 more A360x units and the other option is 1 AP9x unit.
Has anyone ever combined A360x with AP9x? Both units can be controlled via the same controller. AP9x could be placed more-less centrally and A360x on the sides.
I would appreciate any thought on this.

My understanding is that the ap9x can control the a360x via k link cable.
and the ap9x would make it so you don’t need the controller anymore as it’s built in to it.

Thanks for your comment. I came to the same conclusion and both light units have the same light spectrum. Some reefers are indeed using this setup.

Awesome I intend to do the same on my new build. I got 2 a360x with a plan to get 48” wide tank but ended up getting 60” so now I need more lights.

I don’t use the AP9 but have one AP700 with two A360X and three A80

Tank is 90 gallons with the typical 48” x 18 x 24 dimensions.

Great growth everywhere and very nice on the eyes

Thank you so much for sharing this. I found one example of combining AP9X with A360X:
