concerning encrusting sps & removing plug from rock??

this was a hard question to ask in a few words ! So I have some type of encrusting sps that has grown over & onto the rock. I want to remove this plug which still has sps growing on it off the rock. Here is a pic . also I want to get this HA off as well but afraid I'll damage the polyps. Can I carefully squirt some diluted peroxide & scrub around it with out hurting the coral? I think I even heard of Folks dipping the coral & all in diluted peroxide. So the plug is naturally glued to the rock. I could carefully cut it away with a cutting wheel maybe? I don't want to damage the coral on the rock & still have some on the plug as a frag of sorts. Thanks ! Not a good pic but any idea what type of coral it is ?

And personally becuse it's growing so well I would just pop that baby off there and not worry about it.

Thanks salty, This is my only sps! And it grows real slow . I surely don't want to mess this up ! LOL Watch out tank of the month here I come! ;)

Haha. It's a really prettty piece.

My first cyphasteria grew slow at first too. I did the same thing and popped it off and moved it.

Now it's in four spots im trying to kill lol.

Alright, cool I feel better about the going in there & snaping it off . A cyphasteria Thanks for the Id. I had two. another green one I traded to a guy for a couple of MH ballasts . Anyway that one didn't make it.

Well thanks Salty. The plug did indeed just pop right off ! I got another small piece that came up with it. I glued it to a puck & placed it on the bottom. I looks green down there, much different than the one higher up.After some research on this cyphasteria type I learned it was a low light coral. I can't help the ones on this rock but I will place the the original frag on the bottom also & see what happens. You can see the original to the right of what's growing on the rock . If you look to the lower right there is a tuxedo urchin. When they decorate their shells with tuffs of HA & bubble Ya know it's too much !

It is really cool when that happpens. Nice to see what the differences are in where you put them. Pretty fun stuff.
