Hi Guys, I am wondering how to identify "Killer Conch" and Herbivore Strombus?
My local guys, catch many different type of Conch...
Mostly, I just get Strawberry Conch (Conomurex Luhuanus). It's was the most easiest to recognized.
However, as of late, they show me this Conch, said to be even better than Strawberry Conch. Shell looks almost identical at first.... but it's grown almost 50 times faster than Strawberry Conch. I used to had Strawberry Conch for ages but they rarely get big, most didn't even reach 3cm, but this new snail are Growing VERY BIG. Now almost 10cm.
It seemed to be "Hawkwing Conch" according to shape but I cannot see the pattern at all due to massive detritus stuck on its shell.
It has one leg, like normal conch but its Flesh is "Green" with pattern that almost identical to Sea Lettuce Slug, very very obvious green.
I am suspecting it to be a Killer Conch?
It doesn't make sense for it to eat algae & to be grown so large, so fast... Unless, they eat my baby Mexican & Astrea turbo snail which I have hundreds of. It keeps spawning nonstop.
And the reason I suspect it to be a killer snail, I believe it attack one of my Yellow Scopas today. I had this scopas for 3-4 months now, fat & happy... But this morning, I notice it swimming like a drunk fish and have a bright red spot on left fin, the right fin is fine. So I suspect Conch attack it with poison or something?
So far, I had this snail for nearly 6 months and it grew from 2cm to 10cm in just 6 months. And I haven't lost any fishes, I have lots of Bottom Dwellers like Dragonet, Pipefish, Sand Goby, as well as Scooter Blenny. They have swim closely with this snail and nothing ever happen and I didn't lose any fishes or corals.
