Conductivity prob to control solenoid

HI all
After some help.
I am thinking about having my auto top connected to both RO and salt to stablise my Sg.

Was going to get to 2 solenoids one on the salt and one on The RO and switch between them depending on SG level.
Is this possible ?

If u trust your reef tank to a salinity probe it's a recipe for disaster.

Possible...sure. Anything is possible.

Few things that come to mind:

I would be concerned with chasing salinity. The tolerances would have to be tight enough on the probe and system that correcting one doesn't cause the other to sense a condition to correct.

One more point of failure is added (or two).

Salinity probes are notoriously....finicky (read that how you like, you'll find various opinions).

Yes, it is possible to run an ATO setup like that.

Conductivity probes (at least ours) do not have issues with measurement accuracy unless they are incorrectly calibrated or positioned in an area with micro bubbles. The ProfiLux system also has a built-in signal filtering feature which allows users to adjust the probe's ability to rule out electrical interferences.

I've relied on conductivity probes as a means of measurement on my personal tank for over 10 years and have not had a single issue with reliability or accuracy.

Please explain your set up so we can understand why your probe might not be working right.
How often do you calibrate?

If your probe isn’t stable try moving it. My conductivity probe is rock solid. Like the OP I see a slow decrease in salinity over time. This is because my skimmer and KH Director create waste water from the sump. That water is replaced by my ATO with RODI. So the replacement water has no salt mix creating a drop in salinity over time.

Sure.
Here's a 5-month view of conductivity changes. In terms of specific gravity, the fluctuations were not more than 0.001 which is a tiny change in the grand scheme of things.
