The gsp(green star polyps) in my tank are out of control. They are encroaching on a green slimer, there's an area that is damaged. I've tried to remove manually them from the rock - but no luck.

I've heard pickling lime can be used to control them.

Do you recommend this or another method? The gsp are really close to my sps - worried pickling lime will further damage my slimer.

How about a picture. For things I don’t like in the display tank, I use a toothbrush dipped in peroxide and scrub it away.
 
Pickling Lime worked great.

I shutoff all circulation, applied a thick paste of pickling lime to the area, waited 20 minutes, siphon the paste out, turned circulation back on.
