Hey all, quick question. I have a 125G Aqueon MegaFlow tank that came with 4 holes drilled and dual overflows & dual returns. I've seen the video that converts it to a dual siphon, but I don't want to add some ugly PVC hanging over the top of the tank for the returns. Could I use those 4 holes for a Bean Animal setup? Does that require all three holes to be right next to each other, or would the split design work? Any advice would help. I just ordered a new sump and I'll be shutting off current plumbing to install that, so I assumed this would bea great time to give me an option for more flow with less noise.

Evening,

There are a few options. I have a dual overflow set up also on a 180, 2 holes in each corner. It will depend on if both holes are the same size or is one 1” hole and the other 3/4. It also depends on how much flow you are looking to get thru your sump. I would suggest herbie and not bean animal, but that is just my recommendation.

I ran the herbie. It had 1 siphon and 1 emergency with 2 returns. I ran it with the siphon and emergency in the same baffle, and I also tried it set up with the siphon and emergency in 1 baffle each and a return in each. The issue you will run into either way is the weir in the baffles will only handle so much flow. So no matter the drain system, it has to get thru the weirs first. I ended up with a herbie. The siphon and emergency in same baffle. 2 returns on the other side. I drilled a few more drain holes in the drain baffle to help. Seems to work fine

thank you & I checked out your build thread too, great looking tank!
question: why did you go Herbie? Was it so you could have the dual returns? My tank looks similar to yours, expect my overflows are not in the corners, but basically the same thing. The overflows that came with the tank are a 1" & 3/4" on each side, with the 1" being the drain & the 3/4" the return. I am running Triton with this, so I am trying to get 1250gph turnover minimum.
