Is this normal? He does this a lot. I have him for almost a week. Eats like a cow, and ate all my algae. Tank very new, 2 months now. No Ammonia, Nitrate at 10ppm, Phosphate at 0.2. Alk at 14. No sign of any disease. All fins and body clear.

Scratching on rocks or sand is usually a sign of some sort of skin parasite, fluke or other irritant. If you are not seeing any signs of disease I would continue to monitor, feed well, keep up good water chemistry, and perhaps consider hooking up a UV sterilizer to combat whatever is bothering him. Convict tangs are hit or miss when first arriving with many coming into the LFS in rough shape and very emaciated. Congrats on picking up a good one. Good luck.
