I purchased some Algae Barn copepods and Oceanmagik through BRS with a larger order. When I was placing the order it estimated the delivery would be this coming Friday (14th). The pods and phyto shipped out from Algae Barn yesterday (13th) via UPS Ground, which seemed a bit odd to me to send live pods from MN to NC via regular UPS ground but they do this everyday so I figured it must be ok. The shipping info from UPS said originally they would be here on Saturday (15th) so 3 days shipping time. I got a notice just now saying due to weather my shipment has been delayed by 1 business day, which Sunday isn't a business day and so now they're not due to arrive until Monday (17th). From everything I've read on here 3-4 days is about max you want on shipping time for them without being able to provide food or air to the jar. According to the UPS estimate, I'm looking at 5 days as of now and maybe more knowing them. So my question is, should I be worried about this added time? These things aren't cheap by any means, so even is some or even a majority are still alive I don't want to have paid for 100% of them only to have 50-60% still alive when they get here.

I think I would preemptively contact Algae Barn with the delay, so they know there is an issue. Because there may very well be one with the Live Order taking that long.

^ This, the sooner you let them know the better.

Hi there,

I am so sorry to hear that the carrier has delayed your order! That isn't very pleasant, however, rest assured we have an AOA (Alive On Arrival) guarantee. This means that if something isn't quite right with your order all you have to do is take pictures of the items as you are opening the box, scan the QR code or go to our website and fill out our claim form, attaching those pictures that you took! It's that easy. Our staff will look at all the information you submitted and get you taken care of as quickly as possible!

While we do pack things to withstand longer shipping times 3-5 days in transit, if the package is/was exposed to extreme temperatures, that can have an adverse effect on the contents.

I tried to look up your order using your handle and I am not sure I have the right one, that way I can pay attention to the tracking as well. Do you mind reaching out to us directly, or reaching out to [email protected] that way we can assist you!

Mine took 4 days. Our temps are in the teens. Package was outside for 4hrs. No visible movement but after temp acclimating you can see them all start to get active again.

I must say algaebarn has some hardy pods. Just ensure you temp acclimate before thinking their dead.
