I am not an experienced reefer but in the start of my experience my fish often flashed and did such things and i thought it would go away. After one of my favorites died i knew i had to do something. My lfs did not sell me healthy fish. I watched it suffer and did not know what to do. Now I dose API general cure to my display whenever I add a new fish. I do not have a quarantine system so this is the best move in my mind. Since then all of my fish have been healthy and growing.
Make sure you oxygenate your tank well if you add general cure. Typically id mix the dose in 50ml of water and add it so my corals arent so disrupted and it goes straight to the water column. I honestly think general cure is safe in general as long as you dont significantly overdose it. Follow instructions.
My most og fish, Marcus aurelius the hi fin goby has been in my tank since day 1. He has been exposed to many of diseases and he lives on today, Doing better than ever. I know hi fin gobys are typically hardy but i watched it go from healthy to sick to healthy again and my only addition was general cure.
