Copperbanded butterfly

My Cb is swollen below it's dorsal fin on both sides about 75% of the way back.
I lose a fish every now and then to strange stuff. I am worried this will be the next one. Any idea how to treat this?

May be constipation or internal parasite
Treat with metro and focus both by seachem or seachem kanaplex
In a separate quarantine setting
You can also try boiling a couple of frozen peas and feeding the inner meat of the pea

It is swollen below its top fin in a ridge. Not in the abdomen. I dont think any of the parts you are treating are up there.

year and a half and anything (frozen mysis, white worms, LRS)

No carbon and the dots are anatomical. Symmetrical on both sides.

Looks like a bacterial swelling or infection going on
May be from a post injury
Seachem neoplex would likely be the best treatment as it treats both internal and external bacteria
Will have to be performed in a qt tank

I have Kanaplex and Maracin here. I will go see if Inland Reef has Neoplex. I may try the erythromycin if not.
Second best to use IYHO?
With Kanaplex some fish get well but I have had a few that die within an hour of dosing like they were poisoned. I always feel like it is a gamble using it.
I have a 40b I use as a hospital tank in the fish room as a hospital tank. Takes 10 minutes to fill it from the big system
with a heater and air pump.
That being said I don't have much experience treating fish. 5 in the last several years. 3 lived and 2 didn't. These 2 both passed very shortly after being dossed with Kanaplex with neurological symptoms.

There is no apparent external damage. I think that part of this fish is just muscles.
Perhaps I will do nothing today but watch and see about the Neoplex.

I fed them and it is eating and swimming normally.
Other possibilities, got whacked by the eel or stung by the lionfish. I have never noticed them even pay any attention to each other though.
The tank is getting crowded though which is why the 180 is going up. That will be their new home.

If it were my fish I would cut back to white worms only and see if it clears in time.

Not a big fan of garlic in the LRS.

Unfortunately my cultures just got restarted. So no worms for a few weeks or more. I wasn't worried about it because everyone is eating other things too.

My butterflies only get worms and the last time I had to switch because one of the colonies "crashed", there were picket signs and revolution was afoot.

Could it be edema?
Is this a long term captive?
It could have fatty liver disease or a kidney infection. Both of those can cause fluid retention. I’ve never seen this in a CBB though.

I have had it 1.5 years. It eats well. I have no idea. Perhaps a sting from the lionfish or a stab from the long spine urchin?
I have looked again and still don't see any obvious break in the skin like a wound. Coloration of the area is normal as well.
It would have to be some sort of edema. It doesn't affect it's buoyancy or swimming in any way.
I had edema myself a short while ago. It went all over me. I would think a centrally caused edema in a fish would swell the entire fish and not present like this.
Fish hives? I have no idea.
For now I am watching it.
