Cor maintenance window

Hi Everyone. Just wondering if there is a routine maintenance or suggested maintenance window for the Cor 15 pumps. Ironically enough I just added a 2nd Cor 15 to power my skimmer and use has a backup should something happen to the Cor 15 that makes up my return pump. What got me to ask is that the Cor - SKIMMER_PUMP is running at 50% and showing 2514 RPM with 52 watt use while the RETURNPUMP, which has been online a lot longer, is running at 80% yet using less watts and lower RPMs at 2209.

Probably nothing to be concerned with but just assumed that the higher running pump would use more energy and rpm but that isn't the case at the moment.

The percentages are relative. You use the IQ level setting to set the maximum flow you want (which may be 75% of what the pump is capable of,) then the displayed percentage shows the percentage of your set maximum flow.

It's kind of like having a car that is capable of going 150 mph, but you set a governor so it can't go faster than 100 mph, then 70 mph would be 70%.

Interestingly, if you do the math these are both using almost the same watt per rpm. It is likely you have to run the return pump at a higher percentage because of pressure from plumbing/head loss.

2209rpm / 46w = 48.02 W/RPM

2514rpm / 52w = 48.34 W/RPM

+1 to account for difference in % and RPM.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think about the pressure (I'm a dork). I tried the IQ thing but wasn't exactly what it was going to do has a return pump. I need to revisit this now that I've moved my 40 breeder into the 210 gallon that I'm talking about. I wasn't exactly sure if I needed to do that with a return or if it helped with feeding, etc. Now I'm wondering if I need to do it with the skimmer or just set it and forget it. At least that is what I'm doing at the moment...

More reading and learning - so thanks. I should have known about the pressure delta. Thanks for educating me :D
