Coral Addiction

I've come to realize I have a major issue. It's like when a person can't stop gambling.

I cannot stay off coral auctions and have no space left for coral. Send me some good vibes to help this issue of mine. I want so many!! I have no space left in my room for tanks. Right now 2-60 gallon freshwater tanks and 2-75 gallon saltwater tanks and a small salt tank for my live octopus food.

Does the addiction end?

The owner at my LFS jokingly says that he’s seen more marriages end because of reef tanks than alcoholism or drug abuse. He’s joking, yet I do believe that this can be a crippling addiction. Part of the challenge is that hobbies are perceived as healthy but much like anything it can become too much. I found that I had to give myself a budget to stick to and became laser focused on doing that. This helped quite a bit.

I'm with you!! I have gone across a bridge that burned down and I can't get back. I spend entirely too much money on coral. Oh, $10.00!! Plus $40.00 shipping. I wonder how many I can get this cheap. That's my problem.

I tend to them daily, always feeding them and staring. I practically stay in my room all day just watching and caring for them. I had no idea I'd get so addicted.

No. It’s an addiction that doesn’t end. I keep adding racks and racks to hold more I try to avoid auctions though. I end up over paying because get attached to something and don’t want to miss out

I continuously find new / nicer things I want that I don’t have space for. I sell things for half what I paid to make room for new things and to give other reefers a deal.

I have a 80g tank ready to set up. I’ll instant cycle it and move everything off my racks Into it, and in a weekend I’ll have that tank full and ready for the frags and colonies to fill in

a few months ago, I spent $$$ on coral…then I PROMISED myself I wouldn’t buy anymore until Reefstock in March. Ive been saving up a large chunk of change so I can go crazy at Reefstock! But, about a week ago, I had a relapse. I purchased so many corals. Everything from plates to acros, to softies….But they were sooooooo pretty! I feel like that almost justifies it. Hehe. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

I'm so glad I'm not alone. I honestly have some on the way and no clue where I'm going to put them....I'll kick my own butt for this!

I have lemon damsels, red cardinals, bicolor angel, flame clowns, oc. Clowns, exquisite wrasse, banana wrasse, green mandarin, lawmover blenny and green chromis. 3 Rock flowers. I think that's all the fish...and a brown pacific octopus in a rock only tank. Those flowers are gorgeous!
