I am looking for a very quiet skimmer. The d500 uses a jebao dc 2000 pump. I am hoping the dc pump will be near silent.

I currently have an sca-302 skimmer which gets good reviews but the ac motor is a bit loud for the location of my tank.

Does anyone have the d500 skimmer or the jebao dc 2000 pump? Is it silent or near silent?

Thanks for your help

I've ran a jebao 1200, 3000, 4000, 8000 and 10000 skimmer pumps and all were quiet. The 1200 was the loudest due to the air pull.

It is fairly quiet but you can tell when its on or off.
Thanks happyhour. Is it the motor you hear or air suction? I realize there will probably always be some noise.

I believe the sca-302 would get the job done but I would really like to get rid of that noise from the ac pump if it possible. Just trying to figure out if it is worth spending the money or not.

I have the jebao dcp 8000 for my return pump and I cannot hear it. I only hear a slight hum from water flowing through my plumbing with my head in the stand.

I tried googling this skimmer. Saw it on amazon. Where did you get yours? What size would you suggest for an 80 gal tank?

I think you will be happy. What noise I hear is likely just air

It's not in a skimmer, but my Jebao return pump is the quietest piece of equipment on my system.

Thx but I just ordered the d500 a few hours ago. I will keep this one in mind though if I ever need another skimmer. Hope the d500 works out for me
