Question for the KH people: will a higher KH force the corals to grow faster ? I read somewhere that a kH around 8 results in a lower growth . Correct or false ?

Welcome to reef2reef. This is a debated topic, but there is a great deal more involved in enhancing and stimulating coral growth.

  • Things to consider are how old is the system?
  • How stable are the water pramameters?
  • What light spectrum and intensity/par is being delivered to the tank.
  • Flow.
  • Temp.
  • Available nutrients.

All of these play a part in coral growth.

All things equal, elevated DKH can help feed growth, but definitely not on it's own. Too large of a increase, too quickly can burn tips on hard corals.
