I recently got into the nano reef hobby. There are so many different kinds of corals it makes my head spin on which one I should get next. My lfs had a sale today and I picked up this one. The new guy didn't know what it was. I'm sure one of you does. Hopefully I got a good deal

It looked like it had retreated quite a bit to me. Possibly from when it was fragged?

If it doesn't further recede, keep in lower light, lower flow for now and see if it grows new tissue. If you notice the coral receding more, an iodine dip might help. Something like seachem reef dip.

Thanks for the advice guys. Sounds like it's a good thing I only paid $8 for it. I moved it to a lower part of my tank that is low light low flow. Thoughts on direct feeding or just let it catch what it can on its own?

I wouldn't direct feed the coral unless you see a feeding response/feeding tentacles from an eye/mouth. If you do I'd recommend something small particle like reef roids and reef nutrition oyster feast. I'd just let it grow for now.

Any idea what this critter is? It's about 1/8" long. Should I take it out?
