Curious, why would anyone purchase fairly common corals without definitely IDing?

Could be new to the hobby. We've all been there! Cut the guy some slack.
So you're the one purchasing tad poles ? If you don't know the animal you're purchasing how do you care for it? It's not asking too much is it really?

Well, to be fair, some lfs’ don’t provide ids, because there is a really good lfs that seeks nice fish that is terrible with coral ids but has a good amount of corals.

Again why would you pay good money for a living coral or invert and then get home and go try to ID that coral or invert?

That is true. I’m not saying I would, and I don’t think they didn’t either. They say they got it in a bundle deal, so my guess is that they got a 5 mystery frags from an online store.

Why would anyone expect the hobbyist to have a ball park identication for the animals they acquired and be the stewards of their care?
