That looks like RTN. Is it peeling or getting eaten? How fast?
If its coming off try to frag the rest and save it. Once it starts peeling you cant stop it.

It’s dying. Most likely a water quality issue. You are going to be told a million things, pick a person you can speak to regularly that you like their tank and try to model their system.

Not layer but tissue loss. Check the following:
High salinity
High alk
Flow too high
Light inadequate or too strong
Liw calcium
Ph
Bugs or flatworms

Coukd also be caused by shading (area that gets little light)

STN or RTN (Slow Tissue Necrosis or Rapid Tissue Necrosis) it can be caused by a multiple of factors. I’d recommend checking the usual culprits (Alk, Cal, Mag, Sal, PO4, NO3) and if they’re all good then it could be bacterial or something bothering it to the point of suicide. If I were in your shoes I’d cut a 1” frag from one of the healthiest tips for safety.
