I buy neon corals ;)
Or corals that have neon fluorescent accents that are reactive under blue light. I learned a long time ago, selection is key. Very hard to make a drab coral look good. I am very very selective about what I buy.

Not all of them need the blue light. I’ll post some corals in white and also mixed light. But the blue certainly helps

Thank you! I'd like to take credit. But it came today from tidal gardens... And it's just my phone. I only hope I can keep it looking this good.

Yes! Pectinia is one that glows and looks very vibrant and bright.

And then there are corals that come in all sorts of variations. And some are simply much brighter than others.

I have a frogspawn that looked good in the selling pictures but in person is an ordinary frogspawn. It’s healthy, it’s nice, but it doesn’t stand out or glow like I expected. If I saw this in person I would have passed.

If you want a stand out tank I feel the best start is to make very careful selections and only pick things that will stand out

This cotton candy torch glows neon green

This hammer glows gold. The frogspawn to the right of it, does not, and from a distance you barely notice it’s there

To me, it was a poor purchase and now takes up real estate that could be taken up by something nicer. I will probably take a loss on it and sell it to the LFS for credit

Cool! I was unsure of what forum to put this in as there was no general coral forum. Reef aquarium discussion may not be the best forum for this... is there a different forum I should have put this in?
