Coral Placement

I just got a new haul from the Reef Jam Charleston. After adding the new corals, I now have half a dozen zoas, three torches, two shrooms, 1 chalice, and 4 hammers. I've been placing them in the same "zones" so like corals are near each other. This is a 180g display so I've got a lot of room for more in the future. How close do you place each of these type of corals? I'm trying to think how big these things will be a few years from now but that leaves a lot of space along my aquascape.

I would post some photos of your scape and your thoughts on zones. Then we can critique and provide advice :)

Totally depends. A lot of those corals will get absolutely rediculus huge over a decade or so and you will find yourself needing to trim them sooner than you think. When you are planning where to put stuff, imagining it all grown out is a very good approach. Imagine how big you wamt them to get before you have to prune them back. Run that through your mind a few times, pick a spot, and let 'er rip.

Def give some room to grow, you can still move them later; except for the encrusting or somewhat matting type.

Total personal preference here, but I spread zoas out over the tank to fill in different spots and to avoid one type overrunning another type anyway.

Room to grow is important. If you mash torches together they just don't grow.
