Coral Pro Salt Mix

I have a few questions about the Redsea Coral Pro Salt Mix:

- How long do you need to mix the salt?
- How long can you store it?
- Do you have to keep the circulation pump going while storing it, or can you turn it off at some point?
- Do I need a heater in my mixing container (I live in Houston where most of the time the temperature is hot enough)?

The label on the bucket says to mix it for 2 hours max, but I was watching a video from BRS when they ran experiments and the result was that you could mix it indefinitely and the levels of Alk and Calcium stayed somewhat stable.

What are your thoughts on this??

It mixes fast, you can’t store it (that’s regular Red Sea salt), and you don’t need to heat it prior to mixing.

They literally did the experiment. What are you asking for additional input for lol

Just so you know, they did the experiment without heat + mixing and the alk + ca drop precipitously after a certain period of time so if you're going to store it, do it the way they suggest (heated/mixing/covered).

I use regular Red Sea salt and store it for several weeks. Have been doing so for 5+ years.

This was the original one I used before I switched off
1) it mixes faster than others, I was able to use it within 4h with heated water and a powerhead
2) ive never stored it but I hear people say use it within a week
3) whenever ive stored it for a couple days ive kept a powerhead in it
4) I never had issues keeping it unheated as my house sits around 72 to 78

I never had issues with calcium or alk shifting when mixing longer, I switched off the mix because it was too high for a lower nutrients system but the salt mix shouldn't shift too much, others may have more experience on this

Ive never heard anyone use it. Most common solutions and salts near me have always heen tropic marin and blue bucket. Looking at the parameters it gives i don't see an issue with it. At the end of the day its preference to what you want to achieve and what you want to grow. If it was up to me to give a suggestion it'd be blue bucket

Nyos Pure is a great salt. I did find I had to heat the water for it to mix properly, so I went back to Red Sea.

Mix until clear….about 2 hours.
I don’t heat it at all.
I turn off the mixer after it’s clear, but I do remix just before use for 15 minutes.
Good for quite a while.
I only mix what Iam going to use.
Using this salt more than a decade.

Nyos Pure is a great salt. I did find I had to heat the water for it to mix properly, so I went back to Red Sea.

I also use this salt, had no issue mixing in room temperature water. However, I usually dump and mix overnight.
