By the way, I started every one of my tanks with bottled bacteria and I keep some BioSpira on hand just in case I need a quarantine tank in a pinch. You never know when you might need it.

Is sand necessary for a coral QT tank? Can it be bare bottom?

Mine was very successful bare bottom until I decided I wanted some nassarius snails and other CUC in there as well, so yes, definitely!
