Anyone doing multiple dips before adding new corals?

I was thinking before adding new corals to do a Coral RX drip, then a saltwater rinse, then a peroxide dip, then another saltwater rinse before adding to the tank. Depending of course if the coral can withstand each of those dips.

I do the peroxide dip to get rid of hitchhiking algae, rinse, and then dip mostly with Lugols, rinse, and then into the QT.

Thanks. Have you seen negative impacts from putting the coral through multiple dips?

If the coral has exposed frag plug I do both.

It can sometimes take 4-5 days for the coral to recover.

@kelleymc thanks for sharing this. I read the reefstable article and am now debating switching from CoralRx to Bayer. Very helpful.

Since I QT corals I could always do different dips on different days to reduce stress.

I overdose my chemicals and have only lost 1 frag. ( probably many times required ). I dip back to back then rinse. I would only worry on prized corals that you cant replace.

Glad to share!

Interesting dipping them on different days. Not sure if one bad day, then on to recovery for them is good. Or spreading the stress out over a few days. Hmmm

What are you using for your dips?

Some might close up a bit during the dips but it's usually a very temporary event.
I usually do cleanup on corals once a week. You want to wait a few days between dips as this gives any surviving hitchhikers time to show themselves during inspections. First dip may get rid of the Hair Algae, and then a few days later you might spot aiptasia or some other sturdier form of algae sprouting. Patience is good ;)

Yep! Do this for every frag. 10 min RX, rinse, 30-60 seconds non-diluted peroxide, rinse again then into the tank for acclimation. The frags will be ticked and can look like they are shedding mucous or lose color, but they have all bounced back in a few days.
