Common names: razor coral

Difficulty Level: Razor coral is generally tolerant of most lower light and flow reef conditions.

Feeding: Razor corals are extremely aggressive eaters with very capable tentacles. They will easily catch and consume most food types including frozen, liquid and even pellets. Take care as their feeding aggression can sometimes be taken out on neighboring corals. Food may be placed anywhere on top of the disc, and the tentacles will move it to the mouth.

Lighting (Level 2 to 8): Razor coral will thrive in lower lighting that commonly occurs at sand bed height. Take care when acclimating them to start in lower light and work towards higher light if desired.

Water flow: Lower to medium flow is best to insure flesh is kept clean without blowing food away.

Placement: Razor coral should be placed on soft sand. Even the underside of these corals is live flesh, so placement on substrate is very important. Keep in mind that they can move themselves, and should be allowed to do so. They will often find the optimum spot on their own.

General: As razor coral grows, it can sometimes form seperate, lobed plates which can be easily separated from the colony. In some cases they may even frag themselves

Picked up a frag from reef lounge in Norco CA for a good price. They also do online orders.
