Coralline algae on back glass

My tanks been up and running for 21 months now. I've been cleaning the back glass twice a month. now and I am debating whether to stop and let Coralline algae grow on it. What do you all think?

If you don't mind doing the work then keep doing what your doing. It looks great like that. There are benefits to an untouched back glass too though. Not only will it function as a biological filter, but it will provide food for things such as pods, snails, urchins, certain fish etc.

Yeah some tanks look incredible with
Coralline on the back and some don't. Yeah you're right I think I would miss the clean look.[emoji106]

I prefer to keep my back panel clean, any algae on it is a real eye sore but my background isn't black. Beautiful mixed reef! Here is mine to show you my background, now to get rid of the frag rack. :)

No it's frosted window tinting, so the background color is reflective of my lighting.

Thanks. Your tank is very beautiful as is, I think coralline usually distracts the eye from the corals. But it's all preference.

I like the clean look myself. Even though there may be biological benefits to an encrusted backwall, it always looks dirty to me.

I try to keep mine as clean as I can but some nooks and crannies I can't get to. Also around the silicone areas I go easy, so there is some in the corners.

I never really bothered with the back glass, but i let it go totally now, I recently added a tuxedo urchin and it eats the coraline.
