Coralline algae or cyno?!

I know I have cyno growing because I’ve been over feeding getting my new tang past his ich phase but I added a lr with coralline on it I’ve had the tank 5 years and never grew any coralline algae ....was jw what you all think ?

The picture is a bit too blue but if you touch it does it rub off or does it feel like it’s encrusted? If it rubs off and has a slimy texture then it would be cyano :).

Coralline starts with spots at first then it starts covering areas eventually.

Check your Calcium levels as it it directly correlated to Coraline algae growth. Your tank should be mature after 5years!

I actually just used a Turkey blaster to wipe most off dumb I know but the rest that you see is hard it won’t come up unless I really use a knife like hard

Brown stuff is definitely cuando algae from pictures shown. But I also see Coraline algae ( the faded pink hue!!!!)

Do you care to grow coralline?? Let me know and I will give you a secret sauce to grow it in 2 weeks!!!

You mean you see it off just that live rock alone right with the coral branch

No idea I’ll get them tested but they’re always good at go to the lfs like I said I have been over feeding trying to get my tang fat so he can fight off this I Ch outbreak so I wouldn’t doubt maybe they’re off alittle

Are your parameters somewhat stable???
I was successful in getting coralline to grow out of dry rocks and a new tank in 4 weeks!!

They been stable for a long time I don’t even do water changes anymore haven’t in over a year I went 3 weeks ago to my lfs he tested everything and said keep doing what I’m doing so

That’s cool I never had any until I introduced this one coral that was covered with it as you can see but now it’s spreading fast I wonder why I had never grown it naturally
It won't grow "naturally as it needed to be introduced somehow( in your case the frag plug.
I would scrap that plug and let it spread some more!!

Interesting ty this is actually exciting I hope it covers all my rock as I think it looks cool with all those tanks with it all over the rock it’s kinda pretty
