It's my understanding that some typical "nuisance" algaes thrive under low flow conditions and coralline isn't too competitive. Seems to follow that coralline would have an edge, or at least a better chance, in higher flow environments. Cool catch.

-signed, guy with cyano sheets he can tuck in under :')

i have mixed feelings on that I only have a canister filter, Skimmer, and one small powerhead in a 45 Display no sump. The Coraline is crazy in it. My Larger Tank 100 has more flow but none ?

I have what I would consider to be medium flow but coralline all over. Including some super cool branching coralline 😍

No idea where it came from but I used TBS live sand when I started the tank.

I have high flow but very little coralline growth even after nearly 2 years running….well, except the overflow weirs. And spots around rock. But these pictures look like. Coralline is almost reaching nuisance levels.

My used 13.5g glass QT tank came with a comically oversized powerhead (1,400-2,000gph)… I’ve been running it on variable flow anyways…

41 day old tank, 41 days of undisturbed growth, and embarrassingly little maintenance later:

I will note that coralline isn’t seeming to want to grow in one band of the powerhead’s blast radius… I assumed light was the culprit, but now I’m second guessing that!

Just nothing comes up in the upper right hand corner on the bell icon. I had no idea that you responded to my post. I never had ever any notification of anyone responding to the thread itself

I don't use these alerts so I do not know what might be impacting what you see.
