Corals closing due to new temperature probe?

I have my temperature probe hooked up to an Apex El controller. It started reading wrong and my Apex wasn’t able to calibrate it, so i replaced it with the new Neptune probe yesterday. When I woke up this morning, many of my corals were not opening. Checked my parameters and all within good range.

Calcium 435
PH 8.35
Salinity 1.026
Nitrate 1.5
Phosphate .02
Temp 78 NIST traced thermometer

So here’s the weird part. After all parameters were double checked I realized the only change to this tank was yesterday when I replaced the temperature probe. I took it out, and the corals that were closed began opening within minutes. Put it back in, within minutes they closed again. Took it out a second time, and yes, they began opening up again.

I can’t imagine this is a coincidence since I took it out twice with the same results, so could someone help me figure out what the cause may be? Could the connection port on the Apex, or the new probe be causing stray voltage into the tank? My tank is all through GFCI but not grounded. Anything else come to mind?

The probe has been ditched. My heaters are on a Helio Controller, so the Neptune probe was just being used for redundancy. I do have a thermometer to check periodically, but just don’t trust heater controllers without backup like my Apex.

Do you know if the electrical issue would be coming from the actual port on the Apex, or would it be generated from the probe itself?
