I have 2 tanks, 1 40 gal AIO and 1 90 gal. Whenever I move corals from the 40 to the 90, specifically softies (mushroom and clove to be exact), they never open up. They're not dead, because when I put them back in the 40 they re open after a few days. All other corals are growing fine in the 90, and if I buy a softie from lfs and out it straight in 90 it's fine. Any ideas?

Do you give them a few days to open up when you move them to the 90?
Are they under similar lighting? Flow?

Yes, at least 4-6 weeks each. Same lighting schedule on my AIs and similar flow pattern.

What are the water parameters on each tank?

Probably you have some differences.
Maybe salinity, KH, or even temperature or light.

Form or function: Do you consider your rock work to be art or the platform for your coral?
