Rocky Mountain Reefers
My Tank Thread
My Aquarium Showcase
Hello fellow reefers, today I am returning to kick off my rebuild of my office tank. In November, I sort of nuked my reef with Flatworm Exit. Lost all of my fish, and all but 4 corals to the fallout. I ended up completely restarting the tank, tossed all of the rock and sand that likely were full of eggs and just started fresh. Started with a mix of Gulf Live Rock and dry rock and a PETG 3d printed zoa island. I am not a great aquascaper, so I kind of just went with a "low rocks to grow corals on" approach with this rebuild. I was able to grab some fish from a tank teardown after a bit and am now, of course, going through the ugly stages.
Tank is an Innovative Marine SR2 80
2x Blade Coral Grow 1x Blade Coral Glow for lighting
Tunze 9004 Skimmer
15 Watt Advantage UV Sterilizer
IM Nuvo Roller Pro 2
Ai Orbit 4 for flow with a second to be added eventually
Previously it was a very LPS heavy tank and that will continue but I am leaning towards more of a mixed reef this time.
Currently we are stocked with:
2 percula Clowns
Melanarus Wrasse (super male)
One Spot Foxface
Very small scopas tang (not expecting to keep it forever, but needed something to assist with uglies for now)
Klauswitz Blenny
Various snails, hermit crabs,a conch and a cleaner shrimp
For Corals currently we have:
ORA Red Goni (Wasteland Survivor)
Mack Attack Goni (Wasteland Survivor)
Warpaint Scoly (Wasteland Survivor)
Rose Coral from original Gulf Live Rock order (Wasteland Survivor)
2 Hammers
Citrus Frogspawn
El Diablo Chalice
Birdsnest
Various Zoas
Ricordea Mushrooms
Very Grateful that the Rose Coral and Scoly survived to this iteration. (Please excuse the algae I am working on it)
I didn't want to give up after the incident, I knew I had to get right back on the horse and keep moving foward. I don't mind sharing the tank in its current ugly for because I want new reefers going through this to know everyone goes through this... Dip your corals religiously folks.
