Im about to pick up some live rock tomorrow and was wondering how many of you experience a complete die off of corraline algae when introduced to new lights, Is it a one off thing or inevitable?

I’ve had live rock with Coraline that was just fine. The only time I have personally seen die off is when I moved a rock with a blue looking Coraline that stayed dark out into the open the blue stuff slowly died off so I put it back low and under some rocks the. It slowly came back.

I wouldn't worry. Getting it in the tank is pretty much all you need if you want coralline. I'm not sure you could even cause a "complete die off." Parts of the rock will have sections that will get more or less light. It will find it's happy spots.
