I just bought a cowfish from our LFS yesterday and when I when down to look at it today it acts like it is struggling to get down and it seems like its floating? It's still alive and swimming. Is is normal or what?

What size tank? They are not the best of swimmers and don't do well with high flow, especially when small. We had one for 3 years and he liked to hang out near the top of the tank. They are omnivores and need some veggies in their diet.

I have only had him for 2 days now and right now hes in a 30 gal but as soon as my 150 is ready he will be going in there. The 30 gal doesnt have a alot of flow on one side and thats where he was like "floating"

Is it eating that's the key. If so, let it be. Agree with above, low flow or dead spots. The not the best swimmers as you know. Mine always hanged out at the top of the tank. Good luck

Kill the flow in the tank, find out what he does then. I had one pretty big, and alot of flow, but he was big enough to get around in it. Other than that, when small, they aren't the best swimmers against the flow.
