crab in chalice

Very unusual... Usually see crabs hiding out in the branches of an acropora or other stick corals.

antice it out with food. lay it on the chalice away from the hole it is in, if it comes out to get it, be ready to grab it with some tweezers. other than that it doesnt appear to be bothering the chalice to much.

I tweezed his *** a few days ago but it was so odd to me that he was in the eye i felt like sharing it RIP lil fella if ya got too close he'd bury himself under the membrane it

Looks cool to me! Nice looking Chalice too.
thanks skins its my buddies. I went to his house and run all the tests calc. was like 300 and mag was 825 and alk some where 4-5 1/2 thus he gave me he colonies for safe keeping until he resolves his issues

I see them all the time, they are no good in my opinion they constantly irritate the tissue of the coral and eventually will make it recede... Just get a small tweezer and crush him, I like to seal it up afterwards with crazy glue just incase it layed some eggs!

Not going to lie. That is actually really cool to me. How is the chalice doing now that the crab is gone?

What type of crab is that?

I don't think there was any question about what needed to be done. The little guy had to go!

They're reproducing in the system? I was under the impression it was pretty tough for crab larvae to make it in most aquariums. I would think crazy gluing the eye would probably irritate the coral just as much as the crab was, since it didn't seem to be eating the coral itself? Not being an a**, just a curious noobslice here :D

There is no eye where the crab is, it is simply skeleton so a dab of crazy glue will be harmless, the crab does not eat the coral it irritates the surrounding flesh by keeping new flesh from growing so it can "fan" the water for food...
