crab leaving a shell

Hello guys , I noticed that my red leg hermit crab almost left the shell but he went back, I know that 2 other did it, and they are gone, I am assuming they are looking for a bigger shell? do we buy empty new for them so they can look for it? should I isolate them so nobody will eat him?

It’s fun to watch sometimes they will try a new shell and not like the fit and go back to there old one. I had one that did this and another grabbed his shell as soon as he let go. You can buy shells so they have more choices or just wait until they find an empty snail shell.
