Crabs

I put 2 crabs into my qt tank from my dt. I have 2 crabs still in my qt. And a dead one. How can this be.

Molting. With hermits it often looks like a dead crab. If you take it out of water you can tell better.

Does a molted hermit crab have some flesh on it? I thought one died then I saw it alive later but I wasn't sure because it was slightly fleshy on the end of the tail
