I just ordered the 30g Fiji sump but it has a crack/scratch on the side. My brother told me he saw the fedex worker place it on its side so it probably broke when that happened. Is it still worth using?

nope, file a claim.

Yeah I thought so too. I already contacted the store.
That can be fixed with a patch. It would be ugly, but could function safely for years. The store may let you keep it, and if so, don't toss it, patch it, or pass it along to someone else to patch?

If you paid for a brand new, undamaged item, you deserve no less. I have seen cases where the store or manufacturer will tell you to try and fix it somehow, but you don't deserve a damaged sump here. I'd put in for a refund, and if they give you a hard time remember that your credit card or bank may be able to help you here too.

That said, I'm with @KrisReef here, that's an easy patch with one of the thicker Weld-On acrylic solvents, so this sump doesn't need to see the inside of dumpster. If they let you keep it, certainly try to patch it and give it a new home, someone will be able to use it. There's members here I can think of that would know exactly what Weld-On to use and how to fix it so it was water tight for years, if not a bit unattractive.
