Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has had issues with the ph probe housing receiving a crack in it. My first regular lab grade (not standard) I had over a year then it stopped reading correctly. It had been re-calibrated but still the same thing, never out of water long enough to dry out. So I ordered a new one this time I got the Lab Grade Double Junction PH probe. I got this one installed the 3rd week of november. Last week the same thing happened... reading ph in the low 7.xx so I re-calibrated and still the same thing... ugh, and upon more inspection I see a crack in the housing just like my previous probe :(

Anyone know what's up with this? I paid $90 for this one :(

Who or where did you order the probe from?
Do you see water seeping into the probe?

I ordered it from top shelf aquatics through ebay. They're located in FL. I didn't see a crack when I initially received and calibrated it and it worked fine up until about a week ago. I'm not sure how it would crack just sitting in its holder in the tank. It's not close enough to get baked by the lights and I don't have any crabs or even a pistol shrimp that could have done this either. I had a standard lab grade probe in the same location for over a year so location should not be an issue.

Your probe is history for sure.
How it sits in the holder?
Does your holder has the plastic bolts to hold it in place?

Yes but I only tighten it just enough so that it doesn't move. Just until it touches. I just bought this Nov 19 and installed on the 23rd :(

I hear ya.
If the crack happen after you put it in the probe the possibility is that it was just tied enough to cause the crack.

The first one i bought, i was having some issues with. The readings were fine, just seemed like an old probe. Got another one, and realized the old double j i had, has a crack inside the top portion of the housing. Contact neptune cs

One would think so but I barely had it touching. It was just enough to not move. They really shouldn't crack that easily being that they're designed to be held in place by the Neptune probe holder. I will call Neptune and see what they say I guess. I have a lab grade on the way but am very disappointed considering I just spent $90 on this one less than two months ago. They should not crack that easily...

Any follow up on what happened with this???
Life got in the way.... was sidetracked by my daughter needing me to babysit and making up for time lost everywhere else in between due to babysitting 14 hrs a day x 5-6 days. 3mo old babies are tough on grandmas for that many hours lol I'm going try to call them when I get a day off this week.
