Creative ways for topping off with fresh water

Not everybody has the skills or budget to install a auto top off system for their coral tank, or sometimes the tank is so small it's not really worth setting one up unless you see a ton of evaporation happening. Aside from just manually adding in fresh water to your tank do you have any creative ways of keeping your salinity stable? I have a couple of bottles with extra flared bases that I have sat on the corner of my tank and filled with fresh water that are tipped upside down so when the water level falls below it it will just automatically top up the tank back to the original level, and I only have to refill it once a week.

That is a great idea and I have been doing that since the 60s.
I used to use a one gallon jug and plug the top.. Then put about a 3/4" tube from it into the tank, just at the surface and the water would fill up to that tube.

I made a piece of plywood that just fits over the tank and drilled a hole in it to fit the top of the bottle. The length of the tube sets the water level. Very simple and thanks for letting people know about this.

Nice thanks for sharing! I feel like it's something everybody with a small sw tank should know. Saves alot of trouble in the long run.
