The Title says it all!

Today I finally picked up a used corner 90 from my friend! I'm not sure which direction ill be going with this tank and have a few things to buy still, but I'm off to a good start!

I'm Going to be Updating this thread regularly. listing my purchases as they arrive and what I accomplish each day.

Day 1:
  • I Received the tank with tons of extras! I'm still debating if I'm going to incorporate some stuff into my build or not.
  • I cleaned the entire tank (best i could, overflow has lots of coraline algae)
  • The stand was in good shape, but I decide to give it a quick stain to darken it up a bit and restore it to almost new.
  • Placed some cherry picked live rocks into a trashcan with some power heads and heater.
  • Ordered some Fritz salt,Heaters and return pump.
Things I'm debating Right now
  • Sump design and if i want it under the tank or somewhere else.
  • Lights: I have my eyes on a Ati fixture but not sure if 8 bulbs would be overkill or not.
  • Starboard vs Sand bed.
  • yay or nay for the blue back walls (Im kinda digging it)
  • Does anyone know if i can paint the fake wood trim around the tank?

Day 2:
  • Painted the fake oak trim around the tank to black.
  • Got a temporary sump. I'm just not sure if it's going to be big enough, no room for skimmer etc.. why I say temporary.
  • Picked up all my plumbing supplies. Return pump should arrive tomorrow.

Day 3:
  • Began making 90+ gallons of Ro/DI.
  • Fritz salt, heater and return pump all arrived.
  • Finished my plumbing for my overflow and return. Pretty simple incase I change sumps in the future.
  • Leak tested everything
  • Added my sand (decide against bare bottom)

My plans are to do my aquascape today. I'm worried I didn't get enough base rock to build off. I guess I can always get more.

Im going to try and have it filled by tonight.

Following!
Thanks for following it means a lot to me!

So day 3 and day 4 today. got posted today, due to me being exhausted last night.

Day 4:
  • Started my aquascape! which I'm fairly pleased with! I'm happy with the base. I just ran out of rocks I liked to build the scape higher. I can deff build upon this though.
  • Started mixing my water with Fritz RPM salt. First time using this salt. I use Red Sea blue bucket on my other tank. Mixed very clean and fast, used a airator and power head.
  • Began filling the tank. I'm using very fine sand. many people get frustrated with this sand before their tank is even full. I've found a few tricks and made sure to avoid the sandstorm. This time I just took your average ziplock bag. Any size will work. Put a tiny bit of air inside and seal it closed. Place on your sand bed and slowly siphon or pump water onto the ziplock bag. The water will bead off slowly and not disturb the sand. You may have alittle cloudiness, but not a week of cloudiness.

Here you can see the bag that begins to float as the water gets highers. Mine was held in place by my heater/glass so it wouldn't move. Also you can see the tank with minimal cloudiness with very fine sand only a few minutes after filling up.

Unfortunately I forgot to grab a picture of my aquascape before filling the tank up. You can still see some of it. I think once I grab a few more rocks for the top it will come together nicely.

Need your help! The last piece to my puzzle will be my lights. I'm thinking about an ATI fixture and they have a 24" with 8 bulbs for a good price. Does anyone have any input on this and if it would be to much or to little for this tank?

Still pumping away! That's all for today and as always thanks for following along!

I think we are also going with an ATI t5 fixture. I'm not sure if the 24"comes in 8 bulb. It may only be 4 or 6?

Well I ended up purchasing the ATI fixture and it should be here in the next week or 2.

Still have a few things to add and dial in. But the tanks up and running. Now just gunna let things settle for a bit.

Still thinking about adding to the aquascape.

Here it is now! Would love some feedback!

Just some stock updates and pictures. Currently battling through GHA which took off like crazy. It's slowly being trimmed back. Any pointers are welcomed I've been doing the peroxide dose for alittle but didn't want my water to become to clean.

Only have 2 fish. A black tang and lighting maroon clown. Thinking about adding some fish from my other tank to balance them out alittle. Would a sailfin or purple tang do better with a black?

Here's some photos enjoy
