Cross contamination from one tank to another?

We all purchase corals, inverts, macro algae, etc from LFS or other parties, and with that this is how our tanks get hitch hikers into our tanks despite quarantine steps.

I'm trying to wrap my head around understanding how tank contamination works - let's say for example If I have a tank that has green hair algae, dinos and some cyano in it, and I take a few corals out from that tank and put it into another tank that is 100% free of any unwanted 'things and is well established. Is the chances of this tank inheriting the bad 'stuff' from the tank and eventually having it's own bout of GHA, Dinos, Cyano, etc?

I know people say that there's algae spores that can be on a frag plug, or even nasties from inverts such as snail shells, but the reality is how plausible and easy is it to contaminate a tank such that it inherits the nasty things from the original source tank.

Pretty much anything can transfer across tanks if it's wet.

I have completely isolated sets of everything for each tank system.

As does every LFS that I use.

Think of it as your lawn and your gardener.....your lawn may end up with whatever the last lawn had, that he mowed......

I do believe that algae's and cyano will grow on their own, they don't need to hitchhike. Start a new tank with dry white rocks and see for yourself.

To me, hitchhiker threats are aptaisia, clove polyps, hydroids, etc....
