So what's been happening with the frag shack? Did you make it through the summer heat ok? Hope all is well including your little ones.
Sorry I haven’t updated this in a while. Life’s been busy!!! Good but busy. New AC worked like a champ, and even let me run a 48” 8 bulb over one of the lowboys without any issues. Tanks have been doing great with the exception of low ph, but there’s not a lot I can do about that in the summer. Now that it’s cooled off some I can leave the door and window open nearly all day and get the Shack filled with fresh air. (Perk of being forced to work from home because of COVID).
We hope to start building our forever home in the next month or so and I’m hoping to upgrade to Shack 2.0. With some luck I’ll be able to build me a 20x40 shop and divide it into two 20x20 rooms. One for my actual work shop, and one for a much bigger and nicer Frag Shack!!!

Anyway here’s the current status of the shack in pictures:

How high is the 36" hybrid over your 75g? Great build!
Thanks! I think it’s about 9” or so. Just high enough to not spill a ton of light, but too low to be able to really get into the tank without being in the way...

Opening up a fish store in your backyard?? Glad things are going well, I've been wondering about this one
Not a store... although I did apply for my business license. Too many corals and tanks to not be able to buy wholesale lol.

So a little background: The wife and I purchased some land (9 acres) as a future site of our "forever home". The land had two access points from the street, so we subdivided one access point into a lot and built a small home to live in while we pay off the land and save for the construction of the new home. We're on a 5 year plan, but we'll see how that goes. Kids have a way of changing things LOL!!!

Our house is a cozy, but comfortable, sized 3B 2B, but it lacks any "extra" space and, if we add a second kid to the mix, my tank is getting the boot from where is sits now...

My father in law had a 8x16 portable storage building that he wasn't using and asked if I wanted it...
And with that a plan was hatched!

Our forever home is moving along a couple years ahead of schedule. Lumber prices are stupid high but interest rates are crazy low so it’s kind of a wash... you can see the form for shack 2.0 in the far back of the picture.

Day two of the Shack 2.0 build... it’s amazing the type of friends you make in this hobby. 2 guys gave up their Memorial Day to help me knock out as much as we could. I’m pretty dang impressed with what we managed to do in 2 days!!!

More progress...

All electrical and plumbing roughed in. Wall insulation blown in. Drywall hung and being floated and finished. I should be able to start doing trim work this weekend.
