Recently introduced some fish that were supposed to be quarantined by where i got them. Also had trouble with the UV. Then i noticed some white spots on the blue tang, as you can see in the short video. Any opinions? I have access to a vet(not a fish one) and his equipment, should we try and do a scrape? Are the risks worth it? Any other opinions?

It' only a glimpse on the video so can't be too sure, but that looks more like sand or something to me.

These are are mucus cones often from a skin irritation and at times are mixed in with ich and Often you will notice other occupants show no signs but recommended is to remove all fish and treat them as well using coppersafe or copper power for a full 30 days at 2.25ppm which they respond to well and add an air stone and monitor copper level with a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.

I would avoid using a veterinarian unless they are well versed in aquatic animal medicine.

Can you describe the history of these fish more fully?

They do not look like freshly captured wild fish, were they from somebody else’s tank?

How long have you had them?

I also think these are mucus plugs, possibly mixed with ich. If they are just stress related mucus, the spots may go away on their own.
