Cup not filling?

My reef octopus skimmer working correctly but its not pulling junk inside the cup? And more on the edges why? How i fix it?

Your skimmer looks starved of oxygen, or low on bubbles inside. I would suggest that you check the air intake for obstructions. The inside of your skimmer looks watery, it should be white with bubbles!

I run mine dry, but if I want to over flow into the cup I turn the handle to raise the water level inside the body. Your water level will increase when the skimmer is drawing in more air

How do i get more air. Checked the air intake i dont see an issue cleaned the pump

Don't know much about that reef octo... You might post the model... Did it come with its own pump, or did you provide the pump?

Come with own pump. Turned it off ajd then on, and thats how its now



Is it better?

Did you turn the air up with the twistable knob? Is your breather tube cup full of water?

I would clean that rim off and adjust from there. Looks like a lot of build up on the neck.

Mine seems to like a little scum on it, but when it gets too thick, its like the bubbles fall off of it back down the throat. Just my experience. I usually was once a month, rinse once a week.

If I recall my skimmer time (I don't run one anymore), those bubbles should be going slightly over the top of the skimmer neck.

I would do some searching for your skimmer model on youtube and see if you can't find a helpful video of one properly set up - but this still does not look right to me.

All of this skimmer maintenance is why I decided not to run one.
